Ground transport desk · Labuan Bajo & mainland Flores

Komodo transport in Labuan Bajo and Flores: every land movement written down as a working ledger, not a price list.

Eight vehicle classes with their seat ranges, a plain luggage rule of thumb and road grade. Five overland legs with published kilometres and hours. Four pricing bases. And the limits we will not hide — including the one that costs us bookings: no vehicle reaches Komodo National Park. Bands are indicative USD as of 2026 and confirmed on WhatsApp before anyone moves.

Eight classes, with the seat ranges and a plain luggage rule of thumb — the bag counts are an estimate for planning, not a measured or published spec. Bands are per vehicle with driver, indicative USD as of 2026.

Per vehicle with driver. The seat ranges are our published figures, except the EV: we run a small EV pool and publish neither a seat count nor a driving range for it, so the 4 shown is a planning estimate. The bag counts are likewise a rule of thumb, not a measured or published spec. We have not measured boot volumes. What the block covers, and the vehicle assigned, are confirmed in your written quote. Indicative, as of 2026 — confirmed on WhatsApp. Full transport price list.

        How a movement is priced

Four bases. Read the basis before you compare any number to anyone else's.

        Time blocks

        5 h · half-day · 12 h · full-day · multi-day

Private transport with driver is sold by block, not by kilometre. The block starts when the driver reports. Exactly what the block covers is set out in your written quote.

Indicative, as of 2026 — confirmed on WhatsApp.

        Private transport with driver

        Airport (LBJ)

        Per vehicle, not per person

Komodo Airport transport is priced for the vehicle with meet-and-greet. Four people in one Avanza pay the Avanza, not four fares.

Indicative, as of 2026 — confirmed on WhatsApp.

        Komodo Airport Transport

        Shuttle

Shared from ~$5–6 pp · private from ~$12

The shared seat is the single per-person product on this desk. The private shuttle reverts to the per-vehicle basis.

Indicative, as of 2026 — confirmed on WhatsApp.

        Groups

        Quoted as a multi-vehicle manifest

Above a single vehicle we write a manifest: how many units, which classes, which drivers, which legs. One document, one quote.

Indicative, as of 2026 — confirmed on WhatsApp.

        Group Transport

Things a price list will not tell you

Four published limits. We would rather lose the booking than discover them with you at the marina.

        1. No vehicle reaches Komodo National Park

The park is boat-only. Every car leg we sell ends at the marina or harbour in Labuan Bajo, and the water leg is a separate booking. Anyone quoting you a car to Komodo Island is selling you a drive to a pier.

Komodo National Park: what the car actually does
        2. The EV pool cannot cross Flores

Charging exists in Labuan Bajo, not along the mountain route. The EV is a town and airport vehicle. We will not send it to Ruteng to keep a booking.

EV charging in Labuan Bajo and across Flores
        3. June to September the fleet sells out

The fleet is small and the season is short. In high season the honest answer is often "not that class, not that day" — which is why we ask you to pre-book rather than promise.

          High season car availability
        4. With-driver is the norm; self-drive is rare

On Flores the driver is the local knowledge — road closures, fuel stops, market days, where a 19-seat body will not turn around. Self-drive exists elsewhere; here it is the exception.

        How the desk works

Four steps, no account, no deposit page, no invented countdown.

        1. 01

          You state the movement

Where from, where to, how many people, how many bags, which dates. The Assigner above writes it for you if you want the line pre-built.

        2. 02

          We assign the class

Seats, luggage and road grade decide the vehicle — not the margin. If the cheaper class does not fit the leg, we say so in the reply.

        3. 03

          Driver and block confirmed

The time block, the pickup point and the driver are fixed in writing. Flight numbers are held against the flight, not the clock.

        4. 04

          The quote lands on WhatsApp

One message with the vehicle, the block, the basis and the total. No band on this page is a promise until that message confirms it.

Luggage packed into the folded-flat rear of a seven-seat MPV before a Flores overland leg
Why we ask about bags: as a rule of thumb we plan a 7-seat MPV around four soft cases and two daypacks with the third row folded. It is an estimate, not a measured boot spec — the fit is confirmed in your written quote.

Komodo Transport is the ground-transport desk operated under Komodo Luxury, part of Juara Holding Group, since 2015. Vehicles run with our own drivers; where a movement sits outside our fleet we say so and pass it to the operator who holds it, rather than reselling it silently. More on the desk in About Us.

Five questions the desk answers daily

The rest sit on the full FAQ.

Can I drive to Komodo National Park?

No. The park is boat-only. Our car legs run to the marina or harbour in Labuan Bajo and the sea leg is booked separately. Read what the car actually covers on the Komodo National Park car page.

Is airport transport priced per person?

No — per vehicle, with meet-and-greet. The one exception on this desk is the shared shuttle seat, which starts from about $5–6 per person. Everything else is quoted for the vehicle. See Komodo Airport Transport.

How long does the full Flores traverse really take?

640–680 km to Maumere, 5–7 days at a pace that leaves time to stop. Kelimutu alone is 450–500 km and three days one-way via Ruteng and Moni. The driving times table lists every leg.

Which vehicle for six adults with big bags?

Six adults fit an Innova on seats, but the bags usually decide it — as a rule of thumb we plan a 7-seat MPV around four soft cases, which is an estimate rather than a measured boot figure. For six with full luggage on a multi-day leg we normally assign a HiAce. Compare in Innova vs HiAce vs Elf.

Do the prices on this site change?

Yes. Every band here is indicative in USD as of 2026 and per vehicle with driver. Nothing is charged until the WhatsApp quote confirms the vehicle, block and total. See the price list and the changes and cancellation policy.

Tell us the movement. We will assign the vehicle.
