A Toyota HiAce rental in Labuan Bajo is the standard van for groups of 10 to 14 passengers travelling with real luggage — dive bags, camera cases, hiking packs and multi-day suitcases. Komodo Transport supplies the HiAce with an experienced local driver and fuel, priced per half day, per full day or per multi-day Flores overland block, quoted in USD via WhatsApp. As of 2026 our HiAce fleet runs in both Commuter (bench seating, maximum passenger count) and Premio (captain-style seating, extra legroom) configurations, so you can match the van to the trip rather than squeezing the trip into the van.
What do you get with a HiAce rental in Labuan Bajo?
Every HiAce booking through Komodo Transport is supplied with a driver. Self-drive is not offered on this vehicle class — Flores road conditions, blind mountain corners and long transit days make a local driver the safer and faster option, not an upsell. A standard booking includes:
- Vehicle plus driver for the agreed block of hours or days, with fuel inside the agreed operating area.
- Full air conditioning, including rear-cabin blowers — important on the climb toward Ruteng and Bajawa where cabin heat builds during long ascents.
- Luggage handling at hotel, harbour and airport points, including dive gear loaded so tanks and BCDs are not stacked on camera housings.
- Bottled water in the cabin and a driver reachable on WhatsApp for the duration of the booking.
- Flexible pickup points across Labuan Bajo town, the Waterfront area, Batu Cermin and the airport road.
Driver meals and accommodation on overnight trips, entrance tickets, parking and ferry charges sit outside the base rate. We state those separately in the quote so the number you receive is the number you pay.
Who is the Toyota HiAce actually for?
Dive groups and liveaboard charters
The HiAce is the most requested vehicle we run for dive parties. Twelve divers with regulator bags, wet gear and two or three camera cases will not fit a compact MPV, and splitting into three small cars turns a simple harbour run into a coordination problem. One HiAce keeps a dive group together, keeps the gear in one place and reaches the pier as a single unit — which matters when a boat has a fixed departure window.
Families and multi-generational travel
For families of eight to twelve, the Premio layout is usually the better call: individual seats, more legroom, easier movement for older passengers, and enough floor space that nobody rides with a suitcase on their knees. Child seats can be arranged on request if flagged at the time of quoting.
Multi-day Flores overland with a mid-size party
On a Labuan Bajo to Ruteng, Bajawa, Riung or Ende run, the HiAce is the practical ceiling for comfort at this group size. Beyond fourteen passengers you move up to a larger minibus — see our Elf minibus rental page for that class. Below eight passengers on a long mountain route, a smaller unit such as the Toyota Innova is usually the more economical fit. If you are planning the full route, our Flores overland section maps the driving days end to end, including the Labuan Bajo to Wae Rebo leg, where the vehicle stops at Denge and the final approach is on foot.
How much luggage fits in a Toyota HiAce?
| Configuration | Passengers | Realistic luggage | Best use |
|---|---|---|---|
| HiAce Commuter | Up to 14 | 10-12 medium cases, or 12 dive bags with the rear row folded | Group shuttle, harbour runs, day touring |
| HiAce Premio | 10-12 | 10-12 medium cases with more cabin room per person | Families, corporate groups, long overland days |
An honest note on capacity: a HiAce seating fourteen adults will not also carry fourteen large suitcases. For a full group with full luggage on an airport run, we normally quote either a Premio at ten to twelve seats, or a HiAce plus a small support car. We would rather tell you that at the quoting stage than at the kerb.
How do you book a HiAce with Komodo Transport?
- Send your trip shape on WhatsApp — dates, passenger count, luggage type, pickup point and rough itinerary.
- Receive a written USD quote, usually the same day, stating the vehicle variant, the hours or days included, and what falls outside the rate.
- Confirm with a deposit; the balance is settled on completion. Payment terms are written into the quote.
- Get your driver details ahead of arrival, with a live WhatsApp thread for flight delays and boat schedule changes.
Same-day requests are possible but depend on fleet availability, which tightens sharply during the July to September peak and around Indonesian public holidays.
How much does a HiAce cost per day in 2026?

|---|---|---|
| Half day, up to 5 hours | from USD 40 | Labuan Bajo town and immediate surrounds |
| Full day, up to 10 hours | from USD 60 | Driver and fuel inside the agreed area |
| HiAce Premio, full day | from USD 80 | Captain seating, extra legroom |
| Overland, per day | from USD 90 | Long-distance days; driver overnight costs quoted separately |
Pricing disclaimer: the figures above are indicative planning ranges only, valid as a guide at the time of writing in 2026. Final pricing depends on vehicle variant, season, distance, overnight requirements and fuel costs, and is confirmed in a written quote before any booking is held. We do not publish fixed public rates because Flores route pricing genuinely moves.
Frequently asked questions
Can a HiAce really seat 14 people comfortably?
For a short town or harbour run, yes. For a six-hour mountain day, we recommend capping the Commuter at twelve and using the Premio for anything longer. Comfort at hour one is not comfort at hour six.
Does the HiAce handle the road to Wae Rebo and Bajawa?
Yes, on the sealed trans-Flores route, with an experienced driver and a realistic schedule. Sections are narrow and heavily cornered, so we plan driving days conservatively rather than promising arrival times we cannot keep.
Is the air conditioning strong enough for a full group?
Our HiAce units run front and rear air conditioning, which is what makes the difference on climbs where the engine is under sustained load and the cabin is full. If a unit’s cooling is below standard, it does not go out on a multi-day booking.
Can I hire the HiAce for several days in a row?
Yes. Multi-day blocks are the most common HiAce booking we handle, and the per-day rate usually improves across longer blocks. Driver accommodation and meals on overnight routes are quoted transparently as a separate line.
